Guilty Verdict for a South Philadelphia Man

Philadelphia, March 8, 2010:    A jury has found 21 year old Sammie Campbell guilty of Attempted Murder, Conspiracy and other related gun charges.  Campbell was convicted of two separate shooting incidents on September 12, 2007.  The first incident happened in the 400 block of Mifflin Street around 3:30 in the afternoon.  In this incident Campbell used an innocent bystander as a human shield.  The second incident happened 6 hours later around 9:30 pm at 5th and Moore Streets.  Campbell shot at another man, Anthony Reid, over 30 times, eventually hitting Reid 5 times.

“ADA William Davis did an exceptional job on this case,” says District Attorney Seth Williams. “This was a situation where the public was put in danger not once but twice on September 12, 2007, and thankfully Sammie Campbell will now be off the streets and no longer pose a threat to innocent Philadelphians.”

Sammie Campbell will be sentenced on April 23, 2010.
