Philadelphia, March 9, 2010: 24 year old Jason Morgan was sentenced today for his involvement in the beating and robbery of a World War II Vet. Morgan was sentenced to 11 to 25 years in prison for robbery, conspiracy and other related charges for the attack on 83 year old John Gabel. Gabel was beaten and robbed at the Gallery at Market East Mall in Center City in September of 2008. Guidelines for these charges call for a sentence of five to ten years in prison, but ADA Vince Regan, who called this one of the most cowardly acts he’s ever prosecuted, asked for a longer sentence and received it.
“I am extremely proud of ADA Regan,” says District Attorney Seth Williams. “He fought hard to try and right a terrible wrong that was committed against Mr. Gabel. This sentence will keep a man who preyed on an innocent man who was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time behind bars for a long time.”
