Philadelphia, March 9, 2010: 52 year old David Cooke pleaded guilty today to Robbery charges for a bank robbery that happened in March of 2008. Cooke walked into the Citizen’s Bank located at 2702 Kirkbride Street, handed the teller a note demanding money and claiming that he had a gun. Photographs of Cooke committing the robbery were sent to the media and six days later he was arrested. Cooke was sentenced to nine to 20 years in prison.
“A lot people deserve recognition for bringing this case to court,” says District Attorney Seth Williams. “15th District Police Officers, Northeast Detectives, members of the Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit and the FBI all worked together to track down David Cooke. I would also like to commend ADA Joseph Schultz for getting this guilty plea from a man who brazenly threatened the safety of innocent bank customers and employees. Some of those employees also bravely helped with this investigation and they need to be praised for that aid.”
