Jeffery Andrews is Now Facing a Maximum of 40 years in Prison

Philadelphia, March 11, 2010:  Common Pleas Judge Harold Kane sentenced 27 year old Jeffery Andrews to 20 to 40 years in prison today for the shooting of two brothers.  Laquil Coates, who was 15 at the time, and his brother Darryl Coates, then 32, were both shot by Andrews in the 700 block of W. Diamond Street.   On April 15, 2007 Andrews walked up to the Coates brothers and began firing, hitting Laquil Coates in the abdomen and leg, and Darryl Coates in the chest and back.   Jeffery Andrews was convicted of Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person and other related charges in October.

“Sadly this is another case of a dangerous criminal endangering the public in broad daylight,” says District Attorney Seth Williams.  “Jeffery Andrews shot these young men on a public street in the middle of the afternoon, and ADA Jacqueline Gruhler should be very proud that she helped put him behind bars for a very long time.”
