May 27, 2010: Commonwealth v. Robert Scott: A jury convicted 39 year old Robert Scott of First Degree Murder for the 2007 murder of 27 year old Kahill Ragin. The defendant shot Mr. Ragin during a birthday celebration for the defendant. The victim, along with his brother Jameil Ragin, was celebrating Robert Scott’s birthday when some sort of argument broke out. Scott shot Kahill Ragin in the back of the head, and Jameil Ragin in the shoulder, Kahill Ragin died at the scene. A 2008 Murder Trial of Scott ended with a hung jury. The jury today sentenced Scott to life in prison. ADA Jen Bretschneider successfully prosecuted this case.
May 22, 2010: Commonwealth v. Errol Shields: Errol Shields was convicted of Conspiracy to Commit Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault and other related charges for shooting 16 year old Braheem Bailey in the neck. ADA Lynne O’Brien successfully prosecuted this case. Shields is scheduled to be sentenced on July 20, 2010 in courtroom 1007 at the CJC. All community members from the Southwest, particularly the 12th district, are invited to give victim impact statements at the time of sentencing.
