Philadelphia, June 22, 2010: In true Rocky fashion, District Attorney Seth Williams pounded up and down the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art this morning. Mr. Williams ran the steps 12 times in the blazing heat, while wearing a Chicago Black Hawks jersey. It was part of a wager he made with the Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez, in the hopes the Flyers would win the Stanley Cup.
“A bet is a bet,” The D.A. said at the end of his run.
If the Flyers won, Alvarez was supposed to slide down Chicago’s famous Picasso sculpture wearing an orange and black jersey. She promised to run a 5K race for charity and send a dozen deep-dish Chicago pizzas. Unfortunately, Williams had to make good on his side of the deal. The Flyers lost the June 9th championship game.
The D.A. will also donate a full day of community service to the Police Athletic League, P.A.L., while wearing a Black Hawks jersey. And he is treating The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office to cheese steaks, from Jim’s Steaks on 62nd Street, and pretzels from the Philadelphia Pretzel Factory.
“I don’t know how we lost, but we did. We’ll make it up next year,” Williams promised.
