September 8, 2010: Commonwealth v. Anthony Thomas: 29 year old Anthony Thomas was sentenced to 40 to 80 years in prison today by the Honorable Rayford Means. Thomas pleaded guilty to Robbery and Burglary charges on December 22, 2009. The defendant admitted to robbing two women at the same Center City Marriott in August of 2009. The first incident occurred when Thomas knocked on a female guest’s door on August 6, 2009. The victim opened the door; Thomas shoved her back inside and demanded money. He repeatedly threatened to kill the victim and shove her to the ground. He eventually took 25 dollars from the victim, made her stand up and that forced her to give him a hug before leaving the room. The second attack occurred on August 30, 2009. Thomas followed a woman off the elevator and to her room. Once she got to the door of her room Thomas shoved her inside, stuck a butter knife into her mouth and demanded money. The defendant then took 320 dollars from the victim and left. ADA Vince Regan successfully prosecuted this case.
