The District Attorney’s Office Files Charges in Club Motivations Incident


Philadelphia, October 19, 2010:  After a lengthy investigation the District Attorney’s Office has charged  23  year old Sharonda Cheeves with Murder, Homicide by Vehicle, DUI, Aggravated Assault, Leaving the Scene and other related offenses for an incident at Club Motivations that occurred last month. 

One person was killed and seven others injured on September 4, 2010 outside of the club located on the 2300 block of N. 8th Street. 22 year old Jesslyn Williams has also been charged in the incident.  Williams is facing Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, DUI, Leaving the Scene and other related charges. 

The District Attorney’s Office has determined that after being turned away by bouncers at Club Motivations, Cheeves and Williams took turns driving a vehicle around the block several times striking and injuring three people.  Both defendants then left the area.  Sharonda Cheeves was driving alone in the car a short time later when the vehicle struck more people including 27 year old Alisha Moore who died of her injuries.

(A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty.)
