November 12, 2010– Commonwealth v. Malik Ware: 37 year old Malik Ware was sentenced to25 years to life in prison today for Attempted Murder and other related charges. Ware was found guilty by a jury in April, 2010 of Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault and other related offenses for the 2009 shooting of Ronald Goosby. Goosby was shot twice in the head at point blank range by Ware on April 12, 2009. Miraculously Mr. Goosby survived the shooting and was able to testify against Ware. Ware shot Goosby along with another man when they tried to break up fight at Kellie’s bar on Kensington Avenue. The second victim, Philip Singleton, was shot in the back as he attempted to run away from the defendant. ADA Shea Rhodes successfully prosecuted this case.
November 12, 2010– Commonwealth v. Carol Shannon: 63 year old Carol Shannon was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest and other related charges for an incident in February at the South Philly Bally’s Total Fitness Gym involving two Philadelphia Police Officers. Shannon refused to get off a bike at a spin class and had to be removed from the bike. During the altercation she assaulted two police officers. ADA Alisa Shver successfully prosecuted this case.
