Matthew Chea is Honored by the FBI

Philadelphia, November 19, 2010:  Matthew Chea, Southeast Asian Project Coordinator for the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, has been named a recipient of the FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award.

The award, established in 1990, recognizes individuals and organizations for their efforts combating crime, terrorism, drugs and violence in the United States.

Recipients are chosen in each of the FBI’s 56 field offices.

Chea, who was born in a refuge camp as his family fled the genocide of the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia, is fluent in several languages and is “an invaluable asset” to the District Attorney’s Office in working with the city’s Southeast Asian community, the FBI said in a statement.
