Philadelphia—A Common Pleas Court jury convicted Gerald Drummond and Robert McDowell of two counts of First Degree murder and related offenses Monday, for the shooting deaths of 27-year old Damien Holloway and 15-year old Timothy Clark. Both victims were shot in the 6900 block of Vandike Street in Tacony on July 13, 2007.
Holloway worked as a landscaper in the neighborhood. Clark was his helper. Investigators believe Holloway was killed because of a personal dispute. They believe Clark was murdered because he was a witness.
The penalty hearing for both Drummond and McDowell is scheduled for January 4, 2011. That is when the jury will determine if they should be sentenced to death or spend the rest of their lives in prison for First Degree murder. ADA Carlos Vega successfully prosecuted this case.
