Recent Verdicts

August 2, 2011: Commonwealth v. John Benson: 48 year old John Benson was convicted of Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, Robbery, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and other related offenses today for the 2010 robbery of  a South Street jewelry store.  Benson along with his girlfriend Sheakia Stubbs robbed the Platinum and Ice jewelry on February 27, 2010.  During the robbery Benson slashed the jewelry store owner’s throat, and the couple left their four year old son behind in the store.  Benson is facing a minimum of 10 to 20 years in prison.  His sentencing is scheduled for September 21, 2011 in courtroom 501.  ADA Thomas Lipscomb successfully prosecuted this case.

Sheakia Stubbs: 32 year old Sheakia Stubbs was convicted of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Theft, and Conspiracy to Commit Retail Theft charges today for the robbery of  a South Street jewelry store in 2010.  Stubbs along with her boyfriend John Benson robbed the Platinum and Ice jewelry on February 27, 2010.  During the robbery Benson slashed the jewelry store owner’s throat, and the couple left their four year old son behind in the store.  Stubbs sentencing is scheduled for September 21, 2011 in courtroom 501.  ADA Thomas Lipscomb successfully prosecuted this case.
