Philadelphia, January 6, 2011: District Attorney Seth Williams is pleased to announce that Assistant District Attorney Helen Fitzpatrick is now the office liaison for Philadelphia’s LBGT community. Helen Fitzpatrick, who friends call Nellie, made Philadelphia her home in 2008 when she started working as an ADA inthe former Municipal Court division. She is now assigned to the Family Violence and Sexual Assault Unit where she is prosecuting rape, sexual assault and domestic violence cases. Among her numerous on-going prosecutions Nellie is currently assigned to the Courtney Wilson case. Wilson is a 56 year old man charged with sexually assaulting young girls who were members of his church in Northwest Philadelphia.
Nellie was born and raised in South Florida. She graduated from the University of Florida in 2002, and the Florida Coastal School of Law in 2008. While in school she was active in numerous performing ensembles including the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps which is now based out of Allentown, PA. Nellie was also a proud member of many organizations during law school including Law Students Organized Against Violence, and Lambda Legal Society which is an LGBT legal fraternity.
ADA Fitzpatrick is excited about her new role and eager to continue to strength the relationship the DA’s Office has built over the years with the LBGT Community in Philadelphia.
