Heroin and Marijuana Arrests

September 13, 2013:  The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office has charged  28-year-old Broneldo Gomez-Lopez, 23-year-old Jose Lopez-Rodriguez, 22-year-old Jose Almandar-Morales and 36-year-old Alfer Martinez with Possession with Intent to Distribute(PWID), Conspiracy and Knowing and Intentional Possession(K/I) after a raid last night on a home on the 1800 block of Benton Ave.  Philadelphia Narcotics Agents along with investigators from the FBI worked  together to break up this suspected heroin packaging operation run out of the home on Benton Street.  The defendants are accused of moving heroin from Wilmington, Delaware to Philadelphia.  Over 100 grams of bulk heroin were found in the house along with over 7000 individual packets of heroin, and close to $3600.00.  All four defendants are expected to be arraigned this afternoon.

 The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office has charged 26-year-old Maurice Barnes with PWID, Use of a Communication Facility, Conspiracy and K/I after 44 pounds of marijuana was found in his suitcase at Philadelphia International Airport.  Barnes was arrested as a result of a joint investigation by the Attorney General’s Office, Philadelphia Police and the DEA.  Barnes arrived in Philadelphia after traveling from Phoenix, Arizona on U.S. Airways Flight 404.  Barnes has not been arraigned yet.

The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office has charged 44-year-old Thaddeus Paylor with PWID, Use of a Communication Facility, Conspiracy and K/I after 44 pounds of marijuana was found in his suitcase at Philadelphia International Airport.  Paylor was arrested as a result of a joint investigation by the Attorney General’s Office, Philadelphia Police and the DEA.  Paylor also arrived in Philadelphia after traveling from Phoenix, Arizona on U.S. Airways Flight 404.  Paylor has not been arraigned yet.  Despite the similar case circumstances it is unknown at this time if Paylor and Barnes were working together.
