November 15, 2013: Today, a jury of nine women and three men sentenced 31 year old Omar Cash to die for the brutal murder of Muliek Brown. The defendant shot Mr. Brown in the back of the head in 2008 outside of carwash in the Frankford section of the city. It took less than two hours for the jurors to reach the unanimous decision that Cash be executed by lethal injection.
“This was a horrible and senseless crime,” says District Attorney Seth Williams. “Mr. Brown was a hardworking father whose death is a loss for the entire city of Philadelphia. I am extremely proud of ADAs Carlos Vega and Peter Lim, both of whom did excellent work on this case. This death penalty verdict holds Omar Cash accountable for his unthinkable actions. My thoughts and prayers are with Muliek Brown’s family and friends, and I hope this will give them some sense of justice.”
