Helping Homeless Teens Enjoy the Holidays

December 17, 2013:  District Attorney Seth Williams will be “gifting” homeless teens with holiday presents today at the Covenant House in Philadelphia.  The gifts are being provided by The Second Chance Foundation, and will be distributed at the Covenant House on 31 Armat Street.

The Second Chance Foundation is a non-profit organization that was created in 2011, with the mission and purpose to raise funds to provide financial assistance and resources to vital community and faith based organizations that serve “at-risk” children, youth, and young adults here in Philadelphia.  The Covenant House, established in1999, provides services to young people like food, medical services and housing assistance.  They are the largest provider of services to homeless and runaway youth in Philadelphia.  Cordella Hill, the executive director, was excited about this partnership.  The Second Chance Foundation looks forward to providing gifts for the more than fifty one (51) residents at the crisis center.

Sandy Brown, of Browns’ Family Shoprite, also a Second Chance Foundation board member, is adding to the gift giving by providing a holiday meal for the teens with all of the trimmings.
