Philadelphia – Detectives from the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office Insurance Fraud Unit arrested Cierra Hall after receiving a referral from the Philadelphia Police Department Major Crimes Unit. On August 23, 2015, Hall reported to the Philadelphia Police Department that two men approached her and stole her 2015 Nissan Altima. Hall then filed an insurance claim with USAA Insurance Company and told the company her vehicle had been stolen. In connection with Hall’s claim, USAA paid a claim check of nineteen thousand nine hundred and eighty-five dollars. The investigation revealed that at the time of the alleged theft, Hall was unemployed and could no longer afford to pay her car loan. Hall therefore agreed to stage a theft with her friend in an attempt to have the insurance company pay off her car loan without damaging her credit. Hall was arrested on June 16, 2016 for Theft by Deception, Insurance Fraud, Unsworn Falsifying and False Reports. She is next listed for a status hearing on June 24, 2016 in Philadelphia Municipal Court.
